Every month we sit down with one of our amazing ABA members to get to know them a little better! For September, wespoke with Bretney Goundie of Alton Veterinary Clinic. Q: Tell us about your business?
A: We are a Veterinary hospital committed to providing exceptional and progressive medical and surgical care. We offer wellness services like vaccinations, surgical services, and some urgent care services, we do not provide emergency services. We provide digital x-ray, in-house laboratory testing, laser therapy, acupuncture, holistic herbal remedies, and some ultrasound. We pride ourselves on our small town atmosphere but practice up to date standard of care medicine. Our employees are knowledgeable, friendly, and compassionate.
Q: Tell us about yourself:
A: Dr. Scire began her education at Florida Southern College where she minored in both chemistry and psychology, and majored in biology. She then went on to receive her DVM from Louisiana State University in 2005. After graduating she returned to her home state of New York (Long Island) to practice for 7 years in a private hospital. Dr. Scire and her husband then decided it was time to move somewhere with better views! Dr. Scire enjoys seeing the wide variety of pets present in the lakes region from Chihuahuas to Great Danes! Dr. Scire prides herself on providing progressive care to all her patients and fostering a warm family like atmosphere at the clinic. In her spare time she enjoys being at her property with her husband and 3 dogs, hiking, or traveling when she can take time off from running the clinic.
Q: How did your business get started?
A: Dr. Scire bought Alton Veterinary Clinic in December of 2012 and began practicing in New Hampshire in January of 2013.
Q: What has your relationship with the Alton Business Association done for you or
your business?
A: It has been a great source of information regarding the local businesses. It has helped make us feel like a part of the community..
Q: What do you value most about this community?
A: The variety of people. The opportunities for activities and socializing. The way this community can pull together when support is needed.
Q: Why did you want to open your business in this community?
A: This area offered a central location to a variety of activities while also being in a relaxed environment.
Q: What business accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: I am proud of the upgrades and changes we have made to veterinary care in the area. We are proud to offer acupuncture and many holistic treatments. We are proud to have true personal relationships with many of our clients.
Q: What does the future hold for you and your business?
A: Dr. Scire hopes to provide TCVM nutritional counseling in the coming years. We hope to continue to provide extraordinary care to residents and guests alike for many years to come.
Q: What is one piece of advice you wish you had as a new business member?
A: Owning a business will take up a great deal of time but also provide you with much pride.
