The Light Up Night is part of Alton’s annual celebration and begins with the lighting of the Town Hall tree in Monument Square. This beloved tradition brings our community together to welcome the holiday season with sparkle, warmth, and festive spirit.

This event is free to participate, free to attend, and open to the public. It’s a festive way to promote your business or organization, connect with neighbors, and spread holiday cheer — all while supporting community!

5:00pm- Santa arriving by Fire Truck outside of Town Hall

5:00pm- Tree Lighting at Town Hall, sponsored by the ABA, Alton DPW and Alton Parks & Rec

5-:15-6:15 pm -Kids craft, music, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at Gilman Library, sponsored by Alton Parks and Rec

5-6:30 pm – Holiday Hayride, sponsored by Alton Home and Lumber

11:00-7:00 pm – Festival of Trees and Gingerbread House Contest at the Gilman Museum sponsored by the ABA

Along with Letters to Santa station and North Pole Mailbox, sponsored by Alton Village Realty

Alton’s Holiday Light Tour kickoff – Checkout the interacive map of Holiday Lights in and around Alton!

BE SURE to take a stroll along Alton’s Main Street and explore some local shops during Light Up Alton! Don’t forget to visit the festive display at Ginny Douglas Park (gazebo across from Profile Bank).

FESTIVAL OF TREES presented by ABA

The Festival of Trees, sponsored by the Alton Business Association, is a beloved community tradition that captures the spirit of the season. Stroll among beautifully decorated trees glowing with twinkling lights, enjoy festive music, and savor cookies and hot chocolate donated by community members — a perfect way to share in holiday cheer together. Visit us in the Gilman Museum during Light Up Alton!
