ABA December Monthly Member Highlight:

Functional Chiropractic Care of New England, LLC/NH Concussion Center

Every month we sit down with one of our amazing ABA members to get to know them a little better! For December, wespoke with Dr. Denise Pickowicz, owner of Functional Chiropractic Care of New England, LLC/NH Concussion Center.  We ask each member the same questions, providing an opportunity for our members to highlight the important work that they do in our communities. If you’re an ABA Member and would like to be considered for future Monthly Member Highlights, please reach out to us via email at info@altonbusinessassociation.com

Q:  Tell us about your business?

A:  My practice focuses on patients suffering with headaches, back and neck pain, dizziness, and lingering Concussion symptoms that may have not been helped with other modalities of care. I also have additional training in Neurology for people with complex issues that could benefit from Chiropractic adjustments but may have been nervous to see a chiropractor due to their conditions.

Q: Tell us about yourself:

A: I am a doctor of Chiropractic, Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist, Fellow of the International Board of Functional Neurology and Certified Brain Injury Specialist. I opened my practice 15 years ago after the birth of my second son and relocated it to Alton 2 years ago since we loved this community and live next-door in Gilmanton.

Q:  How did your business get started?

A:  I initially opened my practice out of my home in New Boston, NH in 2011 after the birth of my second son. I wanted to be home more with my kids while still able to serve my local community’s spinal health needs and loved caring for families and people of all ages. I had 3 years additional training post doctorally in pediatrics and prenatal care so loved that but moved more towards Brain Injury and Concussion care after having a young girl with a concussion need more than what I could offer. I recognized not many people in our area were trained to help her. So, I went back to school to learn more about that, got my neurology diplomate, and then expanded my practice.

Q:  What has your relationship with the Alton Business Association done for you or
your business?

A:  I have loved getting to network with more people in this area and be more involved with this great community. The people in this town are wonderful.

Q:  What do you value most about this community?

A:  By far the people and their suppprt, openness, and friendliness

Q: Why did you want to open your business in this community?

A:  For the reasons above and because we lived in the town next door and always came over to Alton.

Q: What business accomplishment are you most proud of?

A:  Being established for 15 years and despite relocating on a couple of occasions due to family, I have still had patients travel from all over to continue receiving care as well as new people joining our practice every day.

Q: What does the future hold for you and your business?

A:  I look forward to continuing to serve people in the community and neighboring communities as well as expanding my focus to include Brain based Chiropractic Care for all ages versus just those patients with concussion or neurological injury. I had worked with families, pregnant women, and children for 13 years prior to opening my concussion center and although it has been hugely successful with patients traveling from all over New England to come in for evaluation and treatment, I do miss working with families and helping to improve the nervous system health for people of all ages through Chiropractic. Lastly, I am excited to be writing more blogs and articles to spread awareness on the benefits of Chiropractic care.

Q:  What is one piece of advice you wish you had as a new business member?

A: I don’t know. I feel I had some great mentors and watched a lot of what they did that helped them be successful and getting to know your community and being involved and in front of the community was a big take away. That is one of the reasons I am so grateful for the ABA.

Q:  How can people who want to learn more about you or your business get in
touch with you?

A: Visiting our website or emailing is the best way to get in touch. nhconcussioncenter.com or Fccne.com (will bring you to same site) and email is nhconcussioncenter@gmail.com
