ABA August Monthly Member Highlight:
Every month we sit down with one of our amazing ABA members to get to know them a little better! For August, wespoke with Dustin Fortier, Owner of Fortier Welding. We ask each member the same questions, providing an opportunity for our members to highlight the important work that they do in our communities. If you’re an ABA Member and would like to be considered for future Monthly Member Highlights, please reach out to us via email at info@altonbusinessassociation.com
Q: Tell us about your business?
A: It’s a welding and fabricating business based out of Alton NH. Specializing in aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel.
Q: Tell us about yourself:
A: I’ve been welding since I was 15 and have been passionate about it ever since. I grew up in Barnstead but have lived in Alton since 2012. I own a house with my wife and we have two children, Mason 9 and Piper 7. Every day is a different challenge and it’s exciting to always be learning.
Q: How did your business get started?
A: I got furloughed from General Electric during Covid 19. So, I decided it was as good a time as any to start this journey.
Q: What has your relationship with the Alton Business Association done for you or
your business?
A: Lots of views on my social media page. Shout outs on their social media page. Also a great opportunity to display a small part of what I do with an auction item at the winter carnival.
Q: What do you value most about this community?
A: There’s a lot of great people in this area. I also have always loved the country and being surrounded by lakes and mountains. Also being in the lakes region has benefited my business as far as aluminum work.
Q: Why did you want to open your business in this community?
A: Because I live here.
Q: What business accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: Coming in contact with customers who appreciate quality and choice to use me. Also pushing myself to do things out of my comfort zone, and completing them is a great feeling.
Q: What does the future hold for you and your business?
A: Hopefully someday I will be successful enough to have a business to pass down to my son or daughter.
Q: What is one piece of advice you wish you had as a new business member?
A: Just to be patient in the beginning. It takes time to get word of mouth and to get customers.
Q: How can people who want to learn more about you or your business get in
touch with you?
A: By liking my Facebook page, @fortierwelding. Sending me an email at Fortierdustin@yahoo.com or just reach me on my cell phone, (603) 387-7851.
